My Oldsmobile Will Just Stop Running

Bobby,

While driving my car (an 1987 Oldsmobile Delta ’88), it will just shut off, stop running, but it will start back up. Then, the hotter it gets it will shut off more often. The service engine light is not on, and there are no codes to read. The gas gauge also after an oil change, dipped down past full and went back up to where it should have been, at 3/4 tank full.

These cars were notorious for bad fuel pumps. But the system could also have dirty fuel pump/gauge contacts. Go to my 10 Most Wanted to learn more and then locate a local shop that will sell you BG's 44K. Try in one tank and see what happens. Otherwise, it's dollars for diagnostics time.
