Extend Diesel Truck Life

Subject: Making my truck last with BG Products
Bobby,
I own a 2004 F-250 King Ranch 4x4/6.0 diesel and have about 48,000 miles. I am worried about the reports that this engine over-boosts with the turbo and stretches the head bolts. This engine has tons of power and torque, but I never get on it because of fear of over-boost and ending up with a head gasket leak. I have a chip that boosts power either 50HP or 105HP. The 50HP option adds 2 MPG and the 105HP adds another 2 MPG. A Ford mechanic told me not to run it on 105HP or I would surely be back to see him. I run full synthetic oil, and I sometimes tow a 30-foot fifth-wheel RV.
Do you have any recommendations or suggestions on driving this truck to make it last? I wish that I could get a Ford with a Cummings and an Allison, but that doesn't seem to be an option. Should I think about trading this off and getting a V-10 before problems begin?
Thanks for your radio show and this forum.

Thank you, Dick. I love talking to people all over the country every week about my favorite subject... cars (and trucks).
Regarding your concern about head bolts and engine damage... your local tech is correct. Too much use of such a great product. You should not use the highest HP setting for any extended length of time. However, by installing an exhaust temperature gauge, you can monitor the pressures applied to your engine and know exactly what's going on - at a glance. I strongly recommend doing this.
There is a list of services that you can find locally in your city in Washington to add life to your diesel, all of which are highly tested & recommended by me... and they are used by my service shop. Go to BGFindashop.com to locate shops near you. Ask service managers for discussion and find one that's educated in the BG chemistry arena.
The BG products should be added immediately, especially the diesel oil additive. We use it exclusively and have absolute positive reports of smoother, cleaner, more powerful engines.
BG part numbers/products that you should obtain and use: These are not sold in stores, but available through local shops/new car dealerships that use the BG chemistry.
Keep the diesel power. I will admit that Ford's 6L Diesel may have more electronic problems than its predecessor - maybe. That's why you must treat the oil & fuel so carefully.
As for the V-10 gasoline engine, my opinion and experience: throw rocks at it, not dollars. Gasoline engines cannot match a diesel for torque (and that's what pulls the load). Ever heard of a gas-powered semi?
Thanks for listening to Car Clinic, Dick. Or better yet, give me a call me any Saturday at 888-Car-Clinic from 10am to 12pm ET.
Best regards,
