Ford Explorer Stalls

From: Stan D.
Subject: Ford Explorer Stalls

Bobby,

My son's Ford Explorer will often stall several times when engine is cold. He may start it three to eight times before it keeps running. Other times it may not stall at all. I have had it in two shops. Neither could find a problem. It wouldn't stall for them. I had the last shop replace the fuel filter and run a fuel additive (44K) through it. They also tested the pressure in the fuel pump and found no problem. The vehicle started much better for a week or so and then began stalling again about half the time or more when cold. Once started it is no problem until the engine is cold again, and even then, not always. I thought this might possibly be something more common to Ford Explorers. Would you have any ideas or recommendations?

Thanks,
Stan

Stan,

The complete BG Induction System Service should be performed. 44K is used to follow up these services and is not powerful enough on its own to strip away the deposits that cause identical problems you described.

Sincerely,
Bobby Likis
