Prevent Fuel Filter Expense

From: Roy
Subject: Expensive Fuel Filters

Hi Bobby,

I’m an “always listener”... I never miss a show! I hear you recommend using BG 44K and to put the 44K in a full tank of gas. Do I have to change the fuel filter after that tank of gas? The fine young man at the shop where I purchased the 44K says there is only one fuel tank filter on my '04 Neon and that it will cost several hundred dollars to change. Please confirm that this is the filter that you want me to change before I open my wallet.

Thanks for the show!
Roy

Roy,

Your local tech is correct on the cost of the fuel filter. It seems that on some model cars, Chrysler has seen fit to locate the fuel filter inside the tank. There's no need to replace an inside-the-tank filter like the one on your Neon after the 44K treatment. However, if you have to replace the fuel pump or repair the fuel gauge somewhere down the line, use that opportunity to replace the filter.

Remember when you add the 44K, let it do its work over as many days as possible, allowing time for the chemicals to wash away top layers of debris daily. So it’s best to limit the 44K-treated tank to in-town driving. Call me... I'd like to hear your results.
